Baby hippo helps bring turtle out of its shell – with playful bum bite

South Africa

Marketing manager Seyms Brugger, 39, caught the adorable baby hippo in action at the Lake Panic Bird Hide, in Kruger National Park, South Africa.

Sims, from Johannesburg, spotted the terrapin turtle relaxing on the log.

But the baby hippo thought it was the perfect time to have some fun and make a friend – resulting in the adorable snaps.

Sims said: “It was nothing but fooling around on the baby hippo’s part.

“The hippo is literally biting the poor terrapin turtle – one can almost feel the poor turtle’s pain. “It swam up to the turtle quite excitedly, but eventually lost interest.”We always look for unique moments in wildlife photography, and this ranks up there.

“It was one of the most unique moments I have ever witnessed.”
