Opened in October 1921 and named after Abraham Icek Tuschinski, Pathé Tuschinski has a rich and fascinating history. The art deco building is easily the most famous cinema in the Netherlands.

Jury member Phil de Semlyen called the cinema palatial, saying its “elegant mash-up of art deco and art nouveau styles with sleek modernist touches brings [Tuschinski’s] dream to life daily for movie-mad Amsterdammers.” Time Out also highlighted the cinema’s latest addition, Bar Abraham, and its Pulp Fiction Milkshake, advising readers to “make a pilgrimage to this opulent, historic shrine to the movies.”

This honor is only the latest for Tuschinski – in 2020, it was named the most beautiful classical film theatre in Europe by the International Cinema Technology Association.
